Title: a note
Post by: inoc on September 24, 2007, 01:17:33 AM
guys

i feel that this site is dead when matches are on.

i know you ppl like the chat but for a casual visitor this site is a no no during match times.

i have visited other sites, and without naming them, they provide the ball by ball excitement which we lack.

think about it.

i agree that it is a problem and im not sure how it can be solved without removing the chat feature...most other sites have paid staff to do commentary and that's one disadvantage we have. any ideas?

In that case you have to make the chat feature disabled during the games.

Sacrifice from some of the regulars for the betterment of the site is what would be needed. That would force people to post on the match thread.

One option would be to modify the chat feature to "Chat and commentary." People provide a running commentary anyways and it is more animated than cricinfo.

..or regularly copy and paste the chat script to a match thread ?

That wont work because most times chats digress into things non cricket and therefore it will not make sense for readers....

The better thing would be as suggested by CLR, introduce a commentary feature where in any of the designated users can provide a ball by ball commentary with their opinions thrown in would make for interesting reading....
