;D ;D right...This should be easy.

This man was made his debut for England at the age of 34 and made over 2000 runs for England. His name is synonymous with one of the greatest controversies in the game. Name him.

Basil D'Oliveira?
Ferpectly. All yours Mock....

Jiet,
Mock wanted to see if I can post a question or suggest to one of you to take the turn to post the Quiz question.
So, probably one of you can take it over since i am not much of a trivia person.

PS: Blwe - dont worry that Mock sent me the note and not to you  ;D ;D ;D It was probably a one-off. LOL ;D ;D

Greg Chappell and only one other player have this rather rare achievement. Can you tell what it is and who the other player is?

Played in both centennial tests between Australia and England (1977 Melbourne and 80 Lords)?

Even though these tests were just 3 years apart between the same teams, the only other person who played in both games was Lillee -- suspected the answer and looked at the scorecards to see that there was just one more person.

ah, the Vic Richardson was for most catches in an innings - anyway, this record is not held by just G chappell and Y. Singh but also shared by Hayden and S. Fleming (7 catches each).

Chappell scored a century in each innings in his first test as captain. I can't readily think of who else has done that.

Chappell also scored a century in both his first and last test, like Azharuddin. But there are a few more old timers with this achievement.

Aah, GC's CricInfo profile says he is the only person who has scored a century in each innings of the first test as captain. So he has no company there.

Goddard for SA in 1957. Worrell also in 1957. Only difference Worrell bowled the first ball, whereas Goddard bowled the second over, though both are considered opening the bowling no?

Did Goddard do it in both the innings too ? Sorry, didn't know about Goddard or would have made my question more specific.

Anyway , applause to you and Suraj.

I just checked - Goddard bowled only 1 innings in the match (as SA were defeated by an innings). Worrell is the better answer as he truly opened the bowling, bowling first ball.

Anyways, over to suraj ....
