« on: October 09, 2008, 11:14:21 PM »

....unlike a store, there is no crazy rush of people to grab the deal?

wow - 8500! asia will plunge today? but markets, esp. china seem already bought out - how much lower can they go?

My banker - someone with a lot of grey hair and who has seen many a up and down - says he has not seen anything like this. He thought the late 70s was bad but this takes the cake. He is "playing defense" - doing the rounds with all major depositors to hold on to the deposits. Loan activity has come to a complete standstill. This is a well-capitalized, small regional bank with ZERO direct exposure to real estate mortgages (indirectly everyone is exposed to real estate).

Time to buy gold ;D

WN:What is your take on dollar conversion to rupees now that it has touched       Rs 48 / US Dollar.

I want others to weigh in as well.

Me thinks it is a good time to trade US dollars for rupees.  A 20% spike over the last 6 months.

Kic should give better insights.. but it is funny, not long ago I was running scenarios for clients on impact of Re rising to 34

I think Re will fall further.. primarily due to higher inflation in India

Yes. Buy google. Lots. Within a year, I'm sure you can sell it for $200 profit for each share...
