This Ravikant Shukla is the captain of the Indian team for the U19 WC in Feb. His age in his profile in cricinfo is shown as 20!! Holding UP together with a 72*.

From the little that I saw, this Wankhade wicket does appear to have some assistance for bowlers who put in some effort .. sadly, for Delhi there dont seem to be too many of those kind around in this match. Sangwan is impressive though.

Hell Shukla misses a ton. Out for 96. UP has done well though after being put in. Delhi will have to score big to make up for the 4th innings chase.

I think the Wankhade flattens out a lot after the first day ... so, the team batting second is not always at a disadvantage provided they do not give up a very big first innings lead.

Still going strong. Chopra looks very solid and is a bit more enterprising than he used to be earlier.

watching Tyagi for the first time. tallish boy, nice easy action. he slows up in his runup a bit too much for me. should be more forward momentum. needs to work a bit more pace for me. 40 wickets this season!

What a match!!

I find this Rajat Bhatia chap quite intriguing .. he's generally done quite well over time .. had a good outing in the practice match against Pakistan .. is a handy SG type bowler too ... wonder why he has never made it even to the fringes of selection.

The other day I read Kaif's pre-Ranji final interview ... man, he has a mature head on those shoulders. I hope he comes back into the team..or at least does commentary on TV or radio. He is good.

If UP wins, this will be 2nd win in 3 years .. this time with Praveen Kumar as the hero.

Kaif gone for 21 .. boy, Sangwan is impressive ..not calling for an immediate inclusion into the national team or anything but he is definitely better than a VRV

Didn't Delhi lose a few players to the ICL? Looks like there is a good stream of talent coming along. Kudos to Vijay Dahiya and Manoj Prabhakar - the coaching team.

Also, congrats to the UP team for their second final in three years. Apparently these guys have hardly any structure in place - despite this, they have been able to put up quite a good show through the season.

Bravo GG.

Looks like India is developing some fighting cricketers. It has been a long time since the Ranji finals has been so exciting

If it was not for the match at Perth, I would have gone to the ground today ... (maybe asked Achu to join me so that I dont get scared in the empty stadium :P ). Really a pity that more people do not turn up to watch even such an important match.

I think they do have structure in place. Most of the kids are coming out of sports hostel. It is doing a better job than NCA. Has produced atleast 6 players who have played for India in last 5-6 years starting with Kaif. And you are right about Sangwan. He is very good. Will surely play for indian next season unless all our bowlers are fit. BTW how was Sudeep Tyagi, the leading bowler from UP?

He is sharp .. bowls consistently at a reasonable pace .. but not extraordinary .. I think Sangwan and Praveen Kumar are more impressive.

Given Manoj Prabhakar's comments.. can Praveen play in tests .. specially in swinging conditions that prevail in England and NZ.
