You picture tube is probably gone or is very close to the end of its life, if you were in India you could have replaced the tube but back where you are, you got to get a new TV pronto if you want to catch the Ind-Aus series.

The question is what does dex need and how much ?

 ;D

The question also is what was DEX doing with the old TV the led to that TV revolting and making the picture black? What was DEX watching on the TV that resulted in the mutiny?

Huh, DEX? What kind of porn are you watching, that is making your TV go blind?

Well, if you want to watch only free to air channels you don't need cable, but otherwise you do need it.
But, if you are looking for good quality in free to air channels get a HD TV, because digital free to air channels are crystal clear in quality.
